The Sentinel
30" x 40" Acrylic Painting While the clouds float past high above, the water lily, bathed in the richness of the summer sun stands alone like a sentinel to the bay of Little Straggle Lake. This image was from a wonderful afternoon kayaking with my best friend. The day was hot and the occasional cloud slipping over the sun offered relief from the mid day heat. I saw this lone water lily shining like a star with the light permeating the delicate petals, creating a glow to the flower. I knew I had to capture this moment of juxtaposition with the big sky and small flower.
